CrawFish Farm Holland located in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel has been buying crayfish from professional fishermen for a number of years in order to bring them to a central location for keep alive for longer periods of time. By doing this, customers can be better served. Crayfish are then available over a longer period of time and in greater numbers than from an individual fisherman.
CrawFish Farm Holland was not yet allowed to fish itself, as we were not yet registered as a professional fisherman, but since January 2023 we have the license. This was a long process, because you don’t become a professional fisherman overnight. As a professional fisherman you have to own 250 ha of water and pass the inspection of the Chamber of Inland Fisheries, only then you are allowed to fish with professional fishing gear.
We are now ready and we can start catching extra crayfish ourselves!
