Fancy a cozy evening of flavor, atmosphere and shared dining? Discover the Louisiana Crawfish Boil – a traditional American dish perfect for a summer evening with friends or family. With fresh American crayfish from Dutch soil, corn, potatoes and smoked sausage, you create a feast served straight to the table. Enjoy together with hands, laughter and feasting guaranteed!
๐ Ingredients (for 6 people)
โ 1.5 kg red-skinned potatoes
โ 700 g onions
โ 1.5 kg corn cobs
โ 3 bulbs of garlic
โ 4 lemons
โ 3 tbsp cayenne pepper
โ 800 g smoked sausage
โ 5 kg fresh crayfish (preferably from Dutch soil)
โ Cocktail sauce
โ Melted butter
โ Salt
๐ฉโ๐ณ Preparation
- In a large saucepan, bring about 15 liters of water to a boil with a generous amount of salt.
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them in half. Peel the onions and cut them into wedges.
- Halve the bulbs of garlic and the lemons. Cut the corn cobs into about 5cm pieces.
- Add the potatoes, lemons, corn, garlic, onions and cayenne pepper to the boiling water. Cook for about 15 minutes until tender.
- Rinse the crayfish in a generous amount of water. Cut the smoked sausage into pieces.
- Add the crayfish and smoked sausage to the pan and bring to a boil again. Cook for about 5 minutes, then turn off the heat. Let stand for about 10 minutes.
- Drain and spread on a table lined with old newspapers. Serve with cocktail sauce and melted butter.
