Recently, Crawfish Farm Holland received a delegation from the BBB, including Cees Meeldijk, along with representatives of the South Holland Provincial Assembly and members of the general boards of the Schieland and Krimpenerwaard and Delfland Water Boards. This visit focused on the problem of the American crayfish.
This invasive exotic species poses a serious threat to biodiversity and also affects water safety by digging burrows in dikes. This can lead to weakening of dikes and thus an increased risk of flooding. Crawfish Farm Holland is committed to an effective and sustainable solution by working with professional fishermen and getting American crayfish on consumers’ tables.
While there is broad recognition of the need for a targeted approach, there are still several bureaucratic hurdles to overcome. Regulations and permitting processes often present obstacles that prevent rapid and efficient control. Crawfish Farm Holland remains committed to finding a workable solution and advocates for more government support to address these issues as effectively as possible.
